ABOUT THIS JOURNAL

Biotechvana Bioinformatics (BiBi) is an in-house open access journal promoted and maintained by Biotechvana SL. We publish original articles, mini-reviews, reports and commentaries on software and computational resources in Bioinformatics and Biology where we combine journal and blog formats, thus allowing the authors to post their knowledge and opinions.

ISSN

BiBi is indexed in the “International Standard Serial Number” (ISSN) register. Our ISSN number is 1988-7957. Please use the ISSN when referring BiBi as a journal.

If you want to submit a manuscript, please contact us at bibi_submissions@biotechvana.com and we will inform you about how to proceed.

Publication Topics and Format

BiBi is oriented to both the academia and the biomedical/biotechnology industry. Our scope covers advances in software and computational resources, including applications, algorithms, and other insights in Bioinformatics and Biology. We publish in any of the official European Union languages, preferentially in English and Spanish. The journal is organised in the following sections:

How to Cite a BiBi Article

Editorial Board and Authors

BiBi has a major educational goal. This e-journal intends to be an internal instrument which promotes skills and training in scientific communication for junior researchers of Biotechvana and collaborating institutions. Our editorial board is in fact constituted by the team of junior researchers of Biotechvana. The access is, however, open to other researchers who we encourage to collaborate and submit manuscripts.

Peer Review and Impact Factor

Because of its local nature, BiBi is not yet indexed in journal impact factor lists and we do not follow peer-review criteria for the publication of an article. For the moment, we only pay attention to the manuscript structure, grammar and style to be coherent and straightforward. The absence of a formal peer-review system is substituted with the revision alternatively performed by other authors via the comments and consequent discussion they may post on the blog. If the initiative grows further than we originally expected, we will be pleased to index the BiBi journal and to implant a peer-review system.

Copyright

The following copyright statements apply exclusively on articles.

Authors must grant an exclusive license to BiBi or the society of ownership (Biotechvana). This ensures that requests from third parties to reproduce articles are handled efficiently and consistently, and will also allow the article to be as widely disseminated as possible. In assigning copyright, authors retain their copyright and can link to any of the materials in this blog. Text from the posts, images, pdf attachments and keynote presentations may be reproduced if properly cited.

License for articles

BiBi is an open access initiative where all other authors are encouraged to submit papers. We are pleased to share BiBi with other researchers interested in contributing.

Printed material and/or electronic documentation are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/). This means that articles can be used without restrictions as long as authors are properly cited.

License for Biotechvana tools

BiBi does not impose any kind of license and/or restriction to the tools themselves. The licenses of the tools created by the Biotechvana team are available in their respective landing pages or websites.

License for tools contributed by other authors

Publishing an article at BiBi does not require making the source code or the tool itself freely accessible. The BiBi journal is not a repository of tools, and it only contains articles where authors must add information about how to acquire or download a particular tool and the type of license it has. Each author is therefore free to distribute his/her tool according to the most appropriate type of license for the author’s interest, including the possibilities of both making the tool freely available or following a profit license.

Disclaimer

With the exception of the products belonging to Biotechvana, the proper performance of software and tools published in the BiBi journal is not within our control. The acquisition and use of these tools is at your own risk and according to the terms licensed by the owner of the tool. We only act in good faith as a platform for dissemination and communication and thus we are not responsible for potential errors, reliability, and accuracy of the tools that do not belong to us.

Articles will be manually reviewed for inappropriate content such as unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libellous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or otherwise objectionable. We will not refrain from avoiding the publication of or removing papers and blog posts containing any of these inappropriate messages.
